Peer pressure is an issue which everyone faces, and often, it is an indicator of other issues, such as low self-esteem and/or poor body image. These can lead onto further issues such as depression, anxiety, eating disorders (such as anorexia or bulimia) and drug or substance abuse etc.

Our group aims to reduce negative peer pressure and its effects by promoting the issue of peer pressure, and the further detrimental effects it can have, through this group. We encourage discussion and art on the issues, and members are encouraged to not only think about peer pressure, but the issues relating to it. Furthermore, we encourage members to think about what actions they can take to make a difference.

It's been a long time since posts, but today I posted something on the PPP blog, here. It would be lovely if you could leave a comment with your thoughts or anything you wish to add.

While I have your attention, I would like to start a discussion on the issue of stigma. As I mentioned in the post, stigma is the primary theme of the upcoming World Suicide Prevention Day, and today I just want us to think about some questions (note, these are just springboards for any thoughts you might have):

:bulletblue: What do you think stigma is? How do you think it impacts upon our lives?
:bulletblue: Do you think it is an important issue? Why or why not?
:bulletblue: How do you think we might be able to reduce stigma?

Feel free to add any other thoughts related to the topic - if there is enough participation, I think I might like to hold another photoblog or mini project, similar to this post :)
Today, I'd like us to have a discussion on body image, and in particular, our own body image.

So, what exactly is body image?

Body image is the way that a person sees themselves. It describes how that person sees their body, and what they think and feel about it, however it is important to note that in many cases, people have a distorted view of their body image. In fact, an estimated two out of five women and one in three men are unhappy with the way they look.


I want you all to really look deep and think about how you view your own body. Not what you tell other people, or how other people view you, but how you view yourself.

If you feel comfortable, you can let us know, otherwise, please do comment (etc) on your thoughts and feelings on this issue.

Hi everyone!

Following the success of our previous "mini-project" "Show Someone You Love Them", our team has decided to start another mini-project themed "I am grateful for..."!

As with last time, we'd like you to submit your artworks with this theme; let us know what you are grateful for in your life, whether it be a person, a special object, an activity that you love and anything else! This time, we're not going to limit you to just photography; feel free to submit your drawings or literature pieces too (or any other medium)! :)

Don't forget, this isn't a contest - it's just a little project before we head off to America :dummy: So it'd be fantastic if you participate!

It's been a while since I posted here, which is my own fault, really. I've been busy with school work, with stuff for the PPP finals in less than 3 weeks and everything else! I hope you've all been well, and remember, try to stay positive! If you're ever feeling down, don't forget all the stuff you commented in our last post on what cheers you up? You may even find it worthwhile to have a look at what cheers up other people, and try it for yourself! :)

At any rate, I wanted to draw a couple things to your attention :)

I'm not sure how many of you are aware, but aside from the PPP group, we have a blog,  a twitter (and a facebook page). Though they are all interconnected, they each have their own little special "feature", so it would be awesome if you could check them out :heart:

This was a lovely idea which butterflysymphony came up with. Aside from our other blog posts, our team has decided to write bi-weekly blog posts with links which we have found while browsing the web. These are usually links to articles, videos and/or other blogs, and other things which we enjoyed and found worthwhile. We have decided to theme each post, the previous two being "Positivity" and "Self Love". We'll be posting a new one in a couple days so keep your eyes out! :la:

This is a little initiative I started, to spread a little positivity or give some food for thought in a tweet! I love quotes, and so do my friends, so we thought that we would share our favourite ones with you each week and try and start off your week with a positive little message!

This is actually a little similar to one of our Learning Modules, "Be Real", however, it has been modified a little, as obviously not everyone in the group knows each other, and well. It's over the internet :B I'm not sure if this will work, but I hope it does! :heart: I would absolutely love it if you participated :heart:

I want you all to compliment each other, or write something nice to each other! :heart: Obviously it's a little hard to do it for everyone, so I want you to compliment the person who posted just before you (to avoid a massive comment thread, could you please comment, and then link your comment - click the timestamp - in a reply to the person? If this doesn't make sense, let me know :))! If you don't know them, then go onto their profile, look at their artwork, whatever! :) If you wanted, you could draw a muro picture and/or write something, or you can just send a compliment, whatever works for you! :heart:
